UAN0029

Boomkat

Another minimal and mysterious set of nauseous cycles and slanted kicks that'll appeal to anyone into SND, T++ or Rian Treanor.

UAN0029 is one of the series' most isolating releases, opening perplexingly with its most polarising cut. 'Shifting contexts' is a Schmickler-esque repetition of gently teased digital synth pulses that loop slowly, emphasized by a slow, tightly-delayed kick. Whoever the artist might be follows with 'Cultures of resistance', a hyperactive acidic banger that refuses to drop, leaving the expected 4/4 thud somewhere on the cutting room floor.

The lack of a discernible beat is made up for on the final pair of tracks. 'Radical transformative potential' is a noisy, industrial banger that comes off like acrylics scraping a chalkboard, and 'DIY production processes' is a bone-dry approximation of the hallowed Chain Reaction material, with machine-gun kicks chattering against tempered groans. Properly spannered.

Finn of Tomland

“This might be very repetitive but it's never being boring because the beat just goes straight on and on...
Highly recommended. Favorite track: DIY production processes.”
